SACRAMENTO, California

For the second time in two weeks, protesters demonstrated Monday at the California Capitol in Sacramento against the policies of President Donald Trump, his administration and adviser Elon Musk.

With the protest happening on Presidents Day, those in attendance were chanting, “No king.”

"We are here, white men are here, everyone is here," said Daniel Medina. "This is not just for women. This is not just for LGBTQ rights. This is not just for immigrants. This is for everyone's rights."

It’s the latest day of action from the 50501 movement, which refers to 50 protests, 50 states, one movement. Many have organized on Reddit.

"I think people are finally rising up," said Catherine Stillwell. "We have a voice. We are the people. They work for us. We don't work for them."

They're demonstrating against the policies of Trump, his administration and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) adviser Elon Musk.

They call Musk's role to slash spending in federal agencies an illegal overtaking of the government by an unelected official.

"They end up with Project 2025 and a regime that's near to what my family who came out of the Holocaust went through in Germany," said Barb Brass. "I have a lot of history of feeling that I've needed to resist something all my life, and now I'm able to do it."

Police at the Capitol estimated the crowd at about 1,500 people.
